I love J. Mendel’s Resort 2014 Collection. The lines, patterns, shapes and silhouettes were all well executed.
“Ma Sirène”, a poem written by Robest Desnos was said to be part of Gilles Mendel’s inspiration behind this collection. It was about the underwater blue siren. There weren’t much blue in the collection though. There were black, white, cream, and soft pink. I can see some layering done. Probably inspired from the waves of the sea.
There were a lot of stripes. I love stripes. Mendel has always avoided this but he wanted to experiment it this time and it worked. The stripes on the dresses and skirt were flattering and dramatic but subtle in a way. Sheer organza was prominently used. A peek-a-boo accent in all the right places.
So tell me, which one is your favourite?
