Big, big names in the fashion, music and entertainment industries graced this special editorial by Carine Roitfeld, photographed by Karl Lagerfeld. I was in awe when I first saw this, still do. I’m sure you do too. The photographs were pristine. The line-ups were compiled and narrated beautifully. Don’t get me started on the styling done. The editorial represent the diversity of women. Not discriminating the age, race, shape and size. I’ve never seen this kind of line up featured so cohesively. You gotta love this!

Fashion Feed : Allien Gan, Ezzati Amira, Pearly Wong & Tsyahmi at KLFW 2013

4 in 1

Third show of the first day of KLFW 2013 by Allien Gan, Ezzati Amira, Pearly Wong & Tsyahmi.

An emerging self-taught stylist cum designer, Allien Gan emphasized his collection on black and white monotones, enhanced by the body harness in patent leather which I love so much. He made the body harness classier and less dominatrix when married together with his outfits.

A super fresh designer with very high promising future, Ezzati Amira presented very wearable collection. I like how she choreographed her collection. Its like listening to soft sedative music which slowly and surely transcended to more upbeat notes towards rock, which is more like her personality. Her collection started off with pieces of simple silhouettes of stripes in earthy tones towards darker and more daring colours and closing it with two of my fave pieces of Led Zeppelin tops and sequinned skirt and dress that have that 3D colour effects. This is a girl who dares to step up her game plan. I look forward for her next collection!

Top: My fave pieces!

Pearly Wong used black as her main tone and played with different kinds of fabric, material, textures and cuts. Her design lies in the details and also on how she is a strong advocate of sustainable and wearable, multi-functional designs and fashion aesthetics  that can last for as long long as it can.

I have also worn one of the multifunctional pieces during the fashion week. You can see here for the details of the design.

Since I knew Syahmi from the 10 Rising Stars of Malaysia International Fashion Week 2009, which he won the title Most Promising Designer of the Year, he was indeed a very promising designer, with exemplary ethics, values and attitude which most of the young ones are lacking. This is a guy with vision and patience when it comes to his goals. I like it that he put so much thoughts, research and time to gain experience and more knowledge before he kicked start his label; Tsyahmi. His short absence in the scene was very well worth it.

Emphasizing on accessible luxury women’s Ready-to-Wear line, his opening Pre-Spring 2014 collection, “Lithium”; showcased fresh looking designs which are very feminine, but modern and edgy through his play of asymmetrical and bias cuts, silhouettes and clever choice of clashing fabrics in fresh colours. On a footnote, I also think the soundtrack “Intro” by The XX was a perfect choice for the introduction of Tsyahmi. This is one designer I look forward to, always.

For this collection, Tsyahmi collaborated with Nelissa Hilman for the shoes designed specially for the collection. From a close up look, the shoes were divine. I’ll share with you on Nelissa’s collaboration soon.

That’s all for now guys. I’ll post more on the KLFW 2013. Sooner or later, I will post it. Thanks again for your patience. 🙂

I love it whenever I see the synergy between fashion and music. Like the latest cool editorial by Vogue August 2013 issue.

Photographed by Craig McDean, Karlie Kloss teams up with Daft Punk to prove just how inspired a night on the town on New York can be with the new era of how evening wear should be. Fashion forward indeed.

PRADA Fall Winter 2013 Video Ad Campaign

I love love love the whole look and feel of Prada‘s Fall Winter 2013 Ad Campaign!

The sexy, seductive and dark looking models with their greasy oiled slick hair and skin so translucent, exude such raw sensuality and sophistication to it. I think the advertising video is provocative yet decorous in manner. It commanded attention and evoked myriads of emotions. Don’t get me started on the collection. It’s Prada for God’s sake. Nuff said.

Hats off to Miuccia Prada and team!

Fashion Styling : Behind The Scene of “Reflections” Photo Shoot

Few weeks ago, Idan asked me if I want to do styling for a test shoot. There can only be one answer and I obviously said Yessssss…!

The shoot was scheduled three days after Idan’s invitation. I was still in KK and was only coming back to KL a day before the shoot. Go figure lah! This was gonna be a challenge. A minor one but a challenge nonetheless and I decided to go for it.

The photo shoot team were:

Photographer: Idan
Art Direction: Idan and Myself (Nareez Zabidi)
Stylist: Myself (Nareez Zabidi)
Wardrobe Assistant: Iskandar
Hairstylist: Ckay Liow
Make Up Artist: Alvin Loh
Models: Yuen & Noelle

The theme and concept for the shoot is Reflections. Basically anything shiny, mirror-ish, metallic and reflective will be the main accents. Based on the references, I’m going to need to do some DIY to achieve some of the looks. After some brainstorm, I had some ideas, which I will share only after the edited photos are out soon.

Upon landing in KL, I contacted a dear friend, Megat from Syaiful Baharim to loan some outfits for the shoot and he fabulously agreed. Yay! So credits to Syaiful Baharim too for giving the green light. On the day of the shoot, I made a stop at Syaiful Baharim Atelier to get the outfits. Right before the shoot, I made a stop at a hardware store to get some supplies for my on-the-spot DIY for the shoot.

Excited? Do tune in to The F Words for final edited photos. For now, here are some sneak peaks and teasers for yah!

Fashion Diary : An Interview and A Special Feature in A Magazine.

DSC_0406bAbout a couple of days ago, I received a text message. It was an invitation to an interview and a special feature in a September issue of a magazine. A huge local magazine. As most people in the fashion scene knows, September issue is a big fashion issue, annually.

I was honestly shocked. Excited and nervous nonetheless, but was definitely in shocked. I mean, I always feel I’m just a small little person in this industry. Yes, I have been in it for quite sometimes, doing a little of this and a little of that, all for my love for fashion. But, I still feel it’s minuscule as compared to everyone else in the industry. I was automatically shy about it, but encouraged and happy to receive such news. This is an opportunity I must not missed. So, I replied with a smiley face and accepted the invitation graciously.

Then, I was told that there will be a photoshoot for it. Alamak! I haven’t been in front of the camera for years. I have been behind the scene for so long that I find the idea of being the subject of a camera as a chore and I feel very shy about it. But then again, this is a not a fashion editorial shoot. I don’t have to do the “H to T” model poses and all, right? So, with that thought in my mind, I was soothed and became excited about the shoot.

I was advised by the magazine to dress the way I am. My personal style. Great. A bit pressured though, but I love it that I am going to be featured as myself. So, what to wear? How much can I play dress up? Which look should I go for? Will I overdo it? Oh, there were so many questions in my head. This, must stop.

I flipped through some magazines to get some inspiration and I finally got it. It’s very, Me. And I can’t wait to show it to you. But of course, I can’t. Not yet. Anticipation darling. I too, have to wait for the magazine to be out before I can share it with you.

So here are some photos that I could share with you. Some teasing doesn’t hurt to make you want more. (:

The photoshoot went very well. I wasn’t the only one being featured. There were some friends too. Who? Shhhhh…it’s a secret for now. But I’m telling you it’s gonna be worth the wait. I know I can’t wait but patience is a virtue they say.

So, watch this space always for my updates once its out. Stay tuned!
